Northeast Tennessee
Specialty Growers began as the vision of a couple of
horticultural agents whose desire was to make the public
aware of locally grown products. Their dream became reality
in 2003 when an association was formed to help promote the
area’s family owned specialty nurseries and greenhouses.
The main focus of NTSG
has been to provide marketing opportunities for regional
growers who offer; quality locally grown products,
educational opportunities,
personalized service and expert
advice.
The first undertaking of
the group was to design, print and distribute a brochure
which featured information about NTSG member's businesses.
Our next major venture was to provide every member the
opportunity to compete in today’s fast growing market place,
the internet, through the development of easttngrowers.com.
Both aforementioned marketing opportunities were funded by
grants from the State of Tennessee Agricultural Department.
NTSG meets quarterly
(January, March, July and October) and is open to new
members. Membership is limited to small specialty growers
and garden centers in Northeast Tennessee. Members must
produce 50 per cent of what they sell.
